Labdoo laptops were delivered during the week of Thanksgiving to Casasito.org, an NGO based in Guatemala dedicated to providing education for disadvantage children. Laptops were installed in two different projects. In the first project, a Labdoo Library with six laptops was set up at Casasito, in Antigua. Indigenous and local students in the area who receive scholarships from Casasito to pay for school, food and clothes expenses can now use the library to temporarily check-out laptops to do their school homeworks and projects. For instance, Eddie is a student from Antigua who is learning architecture; for his school projects, he uses Autocad installed in one of the Labdoo library laptops. The time-sharing model provided by the Labdoo library is a good match to Casasito's needs, as the number of students it supports is much larger than the current total number of laptops. So another reason for Labdoo to continue providing more laptops!

In the second project, a small computer lab consisting of four laptops was installed at Professor Chris's school. The school is located in Santiago Zamora, a rural area located about 45 minutes by bike west of Antigua. At his school, Professor Chris teaches the local children a diversity of subjects, including music (harps, piano, flute, drums), English, geography, history, drawing, arts, swimming and now he will incorporate a computer class course with the help of another teacher provided by Casasito. Due to recent advancements in wireless communications, his school is now under the coverage of a 3G/Edge cellular network. Access to Internet will provide critical access to information that the students will be able to use for their research projects. His school, which is open seven days a week and complements the public school, provides crucial education support to the local children and brings hope for a bright future.
